It has been a goal of mankind to stay young and to never age. There have been legends for thousands of years of a Fountain of Youth. If you drink or bathe in the waters of this fountain your youth will be restored. Many have heard of the explorer, Juan Ponce de Leon, who explored Florida looking for this special fountain. Imagine being able to stay young and healthy forever.
The search for the Fountain of Youth continues today with approximately 11.6 billion dollars spent annually on anti-aging products. Approximately 16.7 billion dollars are spent annually on cosmetic plastic surgery.
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:1-2 NIV)
I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed–in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:50-54 NIV)
For those of us who are found in Christ Jesus, we have a promise of an immortal body. We will live eternally with our Lord Christ Jesus. And I can hardly wait to receive my new body in the rapture which will surely come soon. Imagine a perfect body. One with perfect eyesight and perfect hearing. No need for glasses or hearing aids. I imagine all of our senses will be heightened. We will see colors and sights we have never seen before. Crayola has a box containing 152 colors of crayons. Could there possibly be more colors than are contained in that box? How about hearing music so beautiful that it cannot be described with mere human words? How about experiencing delicious tastes and smells? We cannot imagine what it will be like.
We will NEVER grow old. Good-bye anti-aging cosmetics. We will never feel pain or illness. We will never feel weak or frail. No need for walkers, canes, or wheelchairs. That is what is awaiting us in Heaven–the ultimate Fountain of Youth. We will get to eat the fruit from the Tree of Life and drink from the River of Life. Everything will be perfect.
The Fountain of Youth is a gift from our Heavenly Father. All we need to do is to accept this gift by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We don’t need to go on an expedition to find this Fountain of Youth.
There are only 2 destinations after this life on Earth. We will either spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus Christ, or we will spend eternity in Hell and be forever punished. My destination is Heaven.
